Redundancy rates

Maximum statutory redundancy rate is £464 per week from 1st Feb 2014.

If earnings less than the statutory maximum then the redundancy calculation would be based upon normal gross weeks pay.

  • Employee redundancy entitlements (after having worked 2 complete years) are:
  • 0.5 weeks pay for each year worked, under the age of 22 .
  • 1 weeks pay for each year worked between the ages of 22-41.

1.5 weeks pay for each year worked over the age of 41.

Statutory Maternity Pay

From 6th April 2014

Statutory Maternity, Paternity, Additional Paternity, Adoption Pay and Maternity Allowance is currently £138.18 or 90% of earnings if less, for 33 weeks.

Statutory Sick Pay is £86.70 per week.

Agency Worker Regulations

Day 1 rights for all agency workers: If you hire agency workers, you
must ensure that they have they can access your facilities (such as canteen, childcare
facilities, etc) and can access information on your job vacancies from the first day of their
assignment.

After 12 weeks in the same job: The equal treatment entitlements relate
to pay and other basic working conditions (annual leave, rest breaks etc) and come into
effect after an agency worker completes a 12 week qualifying period in the same job with the
same hirer. After completing the qualifying period, pregnant agency workers will now be allowed
to take paid time off for ante-natal appointments during an assignment.

Tribunals Award Limits

Limits for unfair dismissal and redundancy payments 2014/15.

Effective from 6th April 2014

Maximum amount of ‘a week’s pay’ for the purpose of calculating redundancy payment is £464.

  1. The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal is £76,574. Basic award is £13,920.
  2. Guaranteed payments is £25 per day (when an employee is not provided with work)

Legislation adjusting limits relating to a range of employment rights is made annually. This is to reflect changes in the rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI).

Paternity Entitlements

Statutory Paternity Pay – from 6th April 2014 = Two weeks £138.18 or 90% of normal earnings if less.

Changes to Paternity Leave and Pay – updates will be provided on proposed changes to enable Statutory Maternity Pay to be shared.

 

On 3rd October 2010 regulations introducing additional paternity leave and additional statutory paternity pay in Northern Ireland came into force.

The provisions will affect parents of children due on or after 3 April 2011 and will give employed fathers the right to take up to six months’ (26 weeks) extra leave when the mother returns to work.

Get your policies up to date…we can help:

  1. The right to take additional paternity leave and pay will also apply in relation to children matched for adoption on or after 3 April 2011.
  2. Employees can start their additional paternity leave any time from 20 weeks after the child is born. The leave must have finished by the child’s first birthday. A minimum of two weeks and a maximum of 26 continuous weeks’ leave can be taken.
  3. Qualifying conditions apply.
